Pair of gilded and patinated bronze candelabra from the Empire period

Pair of three-armed candelabra in gilded and patinated bronze with caryatid decoration, First Empire period (1804–1805), 19th century.

Decorated with carved caryatids in bronze with a brown patina, depicted as winged female figures standing in antique drapery, holding aloft a three-armed candelabra in the shape of volutes, in gilded bronze covered with finely chiseled scales and topped with saucers adorned with beaded friezes featuring guilloché-engraved grooves.

The base, crafted in gilded bronze, consists of a polished square plinth on which rests a cylindrical, guilloché-engraved pedestal covered with leaf motifs arranged in scales and topped by a polished globe.

France. First Empire period.

In good condition.

Beautiful matte, burnished gilding.
