18th-Century Gilt-Wood Barometer-Thermometer

Large Louis XVI carved and gilt-wood barometer-thermometer from the late 18th century.
The upper section features a rosette set within a ribbon-tied medallion, flanked by two inverted cornucopias. The piece is surmounted by a large three-loop bow and rests on a fluted molding above a palmette motif.
The lower section houses a Réaumur-scale thermometer and is decorated with laurel leaves.
The barometer dial, flanked by two flaming torchères, bears the signature "par Noseda."
Noseda was an optician and manufacturer of optical instruments active in Paris during the reigns of Louis XVI and the Revolution, based primarily at the Palais-Royal between 1780 and 1791. His historical creations include opera glasses, naval telescopes, and barometers.
