Islettes earthenware dish with a curved rim—from Le Bois d’Épense (Meuse)—featuring a polychrome “petit feu” decoration depicting a soldier embracing a nude woman wearing a hat and seated near a waterfall. The rim is decorated with fleurs-de-lis and stylized leaves, with the border underscored by a purple garland.
Dupré period, circa 1815–1820. 1st half of 19th century.
Diameter: 30.8 cm.
A chip on the rim between the 11:30 and 12:00 o’clock positions has been restored, and the purple border between the 8:00 and 8:30 o’clock positions has been retouched.
