Anglo Saxon bronze and gilt saucer brooch 4th-6th century with spiral design: 5 spiral motifs circling around a central point (sun?). The reverse is unworked and features two small protrusions: one was the catch plate and the other a pierced protrusion from which a pin would have been attached. Green patination coats the reverse. It has the circular ‘saucer’ shape, with a shallow, subtly concave body and upwards sloping sides. Original brilliant gilding. Borders of the decoration still quite sharp. Three small perforations due to oxidation.
Dimensions: 3,2cm.
