Pair of cabriolet armchairs with wide seats
Lyonnais work from the Louis XV period, circa 1750
In solid walnut, with curved violin-shaped backs, finely carved with small flowers and acanthus leaves.
The whiplash-shaped arm supports, the carved curved rails, and the moulded cabriole legs all testify to the quality of their execution.
Both cabriolets bear the stamp “NOGARET À LYON” on the rear uprights.
The upholstery has been entirely redone by a professional.
Beautiful original patina.
Usual restoration.
In very good condition.
*Pierre NOGARET (1718–1771), received as Master joiner in Lyon in June 1745.
Pierre Nogaret was born in Paris in 1718 and would remain the undisputed master of Lyonnais seating under the reign of Louis XV.
