Very rare Nevers faience candelabrum.

Very rare and important five-light candelabrum in Faïence de Nevers earthenware, pierced at the center with a rosette motif forming a flower and fitted with zoomorphic side handles. It is flanked by four serpentine-shaped light arms ending in drip pans. A fifth drip pan, taller and wider, surmounts the upper part of the object.

The decoration in blue camaïeu is composed of lambrequins, friezes of leafy and floral motifs, and dotted grounds.

Last third of the 17th century.

This candelabrum fully belongs to the Baroque movement that influenced the production of French faience during the reign of the Sun King.
