An exceptional and monumental Art Nouveau bronze vase, richly sculpted with two elegant peacocks embracing the vessel in a fluid, organic composition. Standing an impressive 110 cm high, this remarkable piece perfectly captures the refined naturalism and decorative exuberance associated with the golden age of French Art Nouveau at the turn of the 20th century.
The vase is adorned with finely chased feather motifs cascading across the entire surface, while the elongated peacock necks curve gracefully around the neck of the vessel, creating a dynamic sense of movement and harmony. The intricate detailing of the plumage, crests, claws, and flowing tail feathers demonstrates an extraordinary level of craftsmanship and artistic sophistication.
Executed in patinated bronze with subtle golden highlights, the sculpture displays a rich interplay of texture and light. The elegant silhouette and sensual lines are strongly reminiscent of the celebrated decorative arts exhibited during the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900, where the peacock became one of the defining symbols of Art Nouveau design, representing beauty, luxury, and exoticism.
This highly decorative and museum-quality object was very likely created in the spirit of — or possibly for — the Paris World Exhibition of 1900, a period in which exceptional bronzes and objets d’art featuring peacock themes were produced by leading French ateliers and sculptors.
