A sage-jubako (picnic set) in nashiji lacquer, complete with stackable containers, a tray, a liquid container, and a bowl, all housed within a carrying frame with a top handle. Sage-jubako were designed for outdoor dining during hanami and other convivial occasions.
The surface is decorated in maki-e lacquer on a nashiji ground, with landscape and natural motifs. The lid features two koi carp among stylized waves, while the sides and containers are adorned with scenes of bamboo, flowering plum (ume), and flowing streams. The interiors are finished in red lacquer, creating a contrast with the golden exterior.
