18th & 19th centuries clocks and furntures
Elegant pair of cassolettes in finely chased bronze and mercury-gilded, of ovoid form, resting on a circular pedestal foot set on a square base decorated with fluting. Each piece is richly adorned with beaded friezes, acanthus leaves, and gadroons, characteristic of the Empire style, reflecting work of high quality.
The lateral handles, with stylized scrolls, feature a refined decoration inspired by Antiquity, giving the ensemble perfect symmetry and a strong decorative presence.
These cassolettes are reversible: their removable lids, topped with an elegant finial, can be turned over to form drip pans, thus transforming the vases into candlesticks. This ingenious system, highly appreciated during the First Empire, combines aesthetics and functionality.
Beautiful original gilding with a warm patina, showing slight wear consistent with age.
