Important Mahogany Cylinder Desk Stamped "petit" (1732-1791)

A mahogany roll-top desk stamped PETIT. Nicolas Petit (1732-1791) became a master cabinetmaker on January 21, 1761. Parisian work from the Louis XVI period. It opens with a cylinder that reveals three drawers, three compartments, and a sliding pull-out writing surface. It has two pull-out writing surfaces on each side. Three independent drawers are located on the cylinder, and four drawers are in the frieze, including a chest drawer. The desk rests on four fluted and reeded legs with brass ferrules.
