An exceptionally refined and luxurious centrepiece executed in gilt and silvered bronze, of very high quality. The richly chased bowl is supported by an elegant stem raised on four claw feet, resting on an architectural base with classical motifs.
The combination of gilt and silvered bronze creates a striking yet harmonious contrast, characteristic of the finest productions of the Napoleon III period, when historical styles were revived with remarkable technical excellence. The chasing is sharp and precise throughout, with particular attention to the decorative friezes and sculptural handles.
