Transition Period Chiffonniere Of Andre Louis Gilbert

Transition Work, Attributed to André-Louis Gilbert Small chiffonier drum table decorated with lake and antique landscapes in stained wood framed with amaranth.
It opens with a ring door revealing a small turquin blue marble slab. It rests on three arched legs ending in bronze sabots.
The feet are connected by a crotch shelf surrounded by a gilded bronze ingot mold with landscape decoration. The top in gilded morocco leather and framed in rosewood is surrounded by a gilded bronze gallery.

André – Louis GILBERT, received master on July 20, 1774 Renowned cabinetmaker, received master's degree on July 20, 1774, André Louis Gilbert settled in 1785 in Faubourg Saint-Antoine.
He produced very important productions of various styles (Louis XV, Transition and Louis XVI) All his creations are recognized by an almost systematic absence of characters.
He prefers marquetry with landscapes of ruins, rivers, city views or architectural motifs. His furniture is generally framed with amaranth.
