Offered by Mora Antiques
An elegant French porcelain dish, richly mounted in a sumptuous, high-quality gilt bronze frame. The bronze work is finely chased and openwork, adorned with rocaille motifs and elegant scrolls, displaying a warm and luminous gilding characteristic of late 19th-century French ornamental bronze. The porcelain center is decorated with a charming hand-painted tableau depicting a graceful young woman holding a putto, a scene imbued with sweetness and poetry. The composition, executed in delicate and nuanced tones, draws inspiration from classical and sentimental themes. The painting is signed “Richard,” presumably the decorator (porcelain painter) of the scene. The reverse also reveals great care in execution, with a turquoise glazed porcelain background and a sturdy bronze support system, allowing for an elegant vertical display, like a true salon object. The refined combination of painted porcelain and gilt bronze gives this piece a luxurious and decorative character, typical of French production during the Napoleon III period. Dimensions: 43 × 36 × H 13 cm
