Pair of gouaches on laid paper.
King Louis XVI is shown in a three-quarter bust, after the official portrait painted by Joseph Boze. He wears on his chest the Order of Saint Louis and the Order of the Holy Spirit.
Joseph Boze was a French portrait painter and pastellist.
Queen Marie-Antoinette is depicted in a bust portrait after a likeness painted in 1788 by Mme Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun.
The queen is dressed in a blue velvet mantle and wears in her hair a pouf adorned with ostrich feathers.
Note: These gouaches reached me in their complete original integrity, but given the dust accumulated under the glass, I had to open the frames in order to clean only the glass panes. This allowed me to confirm the excellent condition of the works, protected by their slightly wavy original glass, as is customary.
The original blue paper has been preserved.
