Important Neo-Gothic-Inspired Mirror, France circa 1840

Important mirror in carved and giltwood with two shades of gold, with a neo-Gothic-inspired architectural shape. Bordered by two fluted columns enclosing openwork arches, resting on two pilasters. The geometric pediment is decorated with a medallion containing a sculpture in the round representing a woman adorned with a mural crown, symbol of a protective deity of cities also referring to Tyche, goddess of Luck and Prosperity. Moldings decorated with rosettes frame the mirror.
