Important Louis XVI period carved and gilded wood mirror.
Rectangular in shape and employing neoclassical ornamentation, the uprights are adorned with openwork laurel garlands and leafy branches.
These branches and garlands extend from the top and bottom of the mirror via small moldings.
They are repeated in the lower rail, tied in the center with a handsome Louis XVI knot.
At the top, a large basket of flowers with gadrooned decoration is also framed by laurel garlands, oak branches, and acorns.
The two-part mirror has a lovely mercury backing with some wear and iridescence.
Neoclassical work from the Louis XVI period, last quarter of the 18th century.
