Louis-Marie Désiré-Lucas, born October 15, 1869 in Fort-de-France (Martinique) and died September 29, 1949 in Douarnenez is a French painter and lithographer. In 1889, he received a scholarship from the city of Brest which allowed him to enter the Académie Julian. He was then admitted to the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited in 1893 at the Salon des Artistes Français. He settled in Vannes and focused on reproducing scenes of Breton life. He eventually left Vannes for Belz, then charmed by the place, settled in 1907 in Ploaré. He was mobilized in Amiens during the First World War. In 1920, he began work on the coastlines and landscapes of the Côte d'Azur, Spain, Italy and Belle-Ile-en-Mer. Désiré-Lucas received a medal of honor at the 1936 Salon. He was elected to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1943.
