Circular table with a banded belt, resting on a central pedestal with tripod ends, the whole decorated with fine concentric circular marquetry. This consists of contrasting geometric patterns, friezes, chevrons, and curling ribbons; The whole serves as a frame for a scene depicting two horsemen from the Italian royal army refreshing themselves while perched on their mounts. The piece is made of native and exotic wood marquetry, including walnut, maple, boxwood, and rosewood. Post-Risorgimento* work from the second half of the 19th century. As early as the 16th century, monks at the monastery of Sant'Agrippino in the Bay of Naples in Sorrento carried out this meticulous work of inlaying solid walnut with local woods on lime wood. Dimensions: 80.3 cm in diameter and 74.3 cm in height. *Period of the unification of the Kingdom of Italy by the House of Savoy. Restorations: presence of old repairs to fill holes, and re-fixing of raised veneer elements and French polish by our cabinetmaker.
