Pair of Napoleon III biscuit and gilt bronze vasesThis monumental pair of vases (H. 51 cm, Ø 23 × 20 cm) elegantly illustrates the luxury of decorative arts during the Second Empire. The matte biscuit bodies are decorated in high relief with allegorical female figures surrounded by floral motifs, embodying all the grace of 19th-century design. On either side, gilt bronze putti form the handles, seated on scrolls and connected by garlands of flowers. The richly decorated gilt bronze bases, resting on claw feet, further reinforce their majestic character. The harmonious combination of biscuit and gilt bronze reflects the eclecticism and refinement of the imperial style. A rare pair, of exceptional decorative quality and worthy of the greatest museums.
