Rare Louis XVI cabinet in mahogany and mahogany veneer, the façade adorned with European varnished panels imitating Chinese lacquer, stamped Godefroy Dester with the JME (Jurande des Maîtres Ébénistes) mark.
Its particularity lies in a large lateral door, opening through a concealed mechanism hidden at the back, revealing inside two drawers and a secret compartment.
At the front, it also opens with a fall-front, still covered with its original Morocco leather, unveiling four small drawers and three compartments.
The uprights are designed as fluted pilasters, standing on slender tapered feet.
The top is a brocatelle d’Espagne marble, inset within a pierced gilt-bronze gallery.
Stamped on a rear upright: G. DESTER + JME (Jurande des Maîtres Ébénistes).
Dimensions: 65 cm wide, 30 cm deep, 107 cm high.
