Carved marble figure of a young woman with a lyre, signed Pugi, Florence, late 19th – early 20th century Finely executed in statuary marble and veined marble, the sculpture depicts a graceful young woman, dressed in a classical gown with elegant folds. The serene face and delicately modeled hands contrast with the polychrome richness of the marble used for the drapery. She holds a lyre, a symbol of harmony and poetry, sculpted with great finesse. This work illustrates the refined naturalism and allegorical themes characteristic of the Florentine workshop of the Fratelli Pugi, whose creations were widely distributed in Europe and North America, and remain prized by collectors today. Signed Pugi on the base. Dimensions: 80 × 35 × 30 cm
