Pair Of Louis XV Period Benches Attributed To Père Gourdin

Dimensions: H 43 cm x W 132 cm x D 40 cm

Elegant pair of Louis XV period benches in walnut.
Their double-curved belts are harmoniously sculpted with stylized shells decorated with a flower in their center and framed with winding net, an ornamentation that is regularly found in the seats of the cabinetmaker Pere Gourdin.

They rest on 6 scrolling feet, curved and sculpted with falling acanthus leaves and shells ending in scrolls, at the foot.

Colorful tapestry decorated with flowers and scrolls on a light green background.
This rare pair of benches is specific due to its size and its number of two.

It was unusual under Louis XV to find seats of this kind, long and in pairs.
This particularity is found more in Louis XVI.

Parisian work from the Louis XV period with beautiful sculpture, attributed to Pere Gourdin (1690-1764) received master in 1714.
