This refined saucer was made by the Royal Manufactory of Sèvres in 1757. At the center is a hand-painted pastoral scene featuring a young boy playing the flute beneath a tree, framed by delicate foliage in gold. The border is adorned with a rare Rose Pompadour pink ground, overlaid with a gilt lattice of interlaced ribbons, and finished with a gold rim.
Underside marks include the interlaced “LL” for Sèvres, the letter-date “E” for 1757, and the painter’s mark of André-Vincent Vieillard, an accomplished artist active at Sèvres from 1752 to the 1790s. Vieillard was known for his mastery in painting figures, landscapes, trophies, patterns, and floral motifs, contributing richly to the Rococo visual language.
The Rose Pompadour glaze, derived from colloidal gold, was highly prized for its luminous warmth and technical difficulty. Reserved for royal and elite commissions, this piece exemplifies the exquisite taste and craftsmanship of 18th-century Sèvres porcelain.
Condition: The saucer is in overall very good condition, minor ursure
