Painter: Jean-Charles Sioux l’aîné (1716–1792)
A complete soft-paste porcelain déjeuner service from the early Sèvres manufactory, comprising:
– a tray (30.3 × 25 × 3 cm),
– a teapot (7.3 cm high with lid, 11 cm wide including spout and handle),
– a milk jug (9.7 cm high, 6 cm wide),
– a sugar bowl (7.5 cm high, 6.2 cm wide),
– a cup (5.3 cm high, 6.1 cm wide),
– and its saucer (9.6 cm in diameter).
Executed in a pink or blue ground with floral cartouches and elegant gilding, the decoration reflects the typical style of early Sèvres production.
Painter: Jean-Charles Sioux l’aîné, a renowned Sèvres painter active between 1752 and 1792. He contributed a vast number of original botanical and floral patterns to the manufactory. His work is represented in prestigious institutions including the Louvre Museum and the Château de Fontainebleau.
Condition report: The set is preserved in very good condition, with only minor wear to the gilding — a rare surviving ensemble from the earliest years of Sèvres.
