Meissen porcelain group depicting Apollo playing the lyre* seated with his back to a tree, the dead python snake at his feet, bow and arrow quiver to his left. Model by J.J. Kandler, 1747.
Mark in blue with two crossed swords under the base.
Circa 1750, mid-18th century.
Height: 28 cm; Width: 15 cm.
A branch of the tree and a few leaves glued back, and a few chips at the ends.
* Muse from the series "Apollo and the Nine Muses" executed for Frederick II the Great (1712-1786) King of Prussia (1740-1786).
