Chandelier circa 1730

This charming Régence chandelier is very representative of the decorative arts of the time. Central shaft is made up of a stack of flared flared cuts and foliage. The upper part, like most period models, is surrounded by women's mascarons topped with a vegetable tiara. The sconces ending in ram's heads are flat with pitted reserves and series of nails. The binets in vases are carried by counter cups at the neck and bottom of Medici vases. The carving is also representative of the time, fine, detailed and very drawn, the most beautiful carvings of the XIXth having on the contrary a more architectural design, more ample but without this charm. somehow pictorial. The assembly is done by screws with large thread and quadrilobed bolts, a technique that disappeared at the end of the 18th century. The chandeliers of this time are very rare, the size of this model (40cm x 40 cm) is quite that of the small chandeliers of the time, the XIXth having designed the reproductions larger.
