Luigi Frullini.
Neo-renaissance frame.
Carved wood.
Dated 1892 and inscribed " SIENA ".
Italy, 19th century.

Luigi Frullini was a famous Florentine cabinetmaker of the second half of the 19th century, as an artist he was appreciated for his neo-gothic and neo-renaissance creations. His knowledge of ornamental patterns combined with a great virtuosity in wood carving resulted in beautiful creations, such as our frame which features the figures of the four most important artists of the Renaissance: Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael and Donatello combined with typically Renaissance ornamental motifs.
