Day and Night, pair of monumental Plaster Medallions after B. Thorvaldsen

Day and Night: This pair of monumental medallions, after the original marble sculptures by B. Thorvaldsen carved in Rome in 1815, had a significant impact on the interior decoration of palaces in Northern Europe, such as Schloss Sanssouci and Archangelskoye. 
With their symmetrical arrangement, these motifs perfectly balance the opposing spaces separated by doors, windows, or mirrors.
These plaster precise Olliecasts were produced by Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen
