Perfect conditions

Excellent wooden boxwood sculpture depicting the crucified Christ sculpted and carved with an exceptionally fine sculptural technique. The stylistic and descriptive elegance of the splendid figure is truly remarkable and all the anatomical details, especially the hands and feet, testify to the great skills of the author. The depiction of Christ still alive also allows us to bring out the suffering and passion on his face which, with his mouth open, gives the impression of emitting screams of pain. We remind you that the processing of this precious wooden essence, which stands out for its exceptional hardness so as to be incorruptible, is extremely difficult and requires great skills. The result is an artifact with a great visual effect and a pleasant sensation to the touch, like the ivory creations. The work, datable towards the middle of the 1600s, is to be placed in the most refined interpretations of Venetian art with evident references to the already Tuscan 1500s towards the transition to the Baroque sculpture. It is in excellent condition, practically intact and without any lack. The patina of time that surrounds it has worked in an excellent way like the author, managing to increase its charm with a luminous halo of great charm.
