Large tax-box with brass cladding imitating tortoise shell, reinforced on all sides with a checkerboard frame of polished and studded iron on a fir wood core. Of rectangular shape, slightly curved, our cassette is equipped with two false locks, with metal clapboard, enhanced with gold matching the spandrels of the lid to attract attention, in front and central part of the lid. The opening is locked by two lateral locks with clapés, less conspicuous, blending into the decor, which must be operated simultaneously to complicate the opening. Both in interior side rabbets, condemned by mobile hooks implanted on the side edge of each side of the lid. A double-lobed metal handle facilitates its catch; this one juxtaposed to the feigned lock of the lid. At the four inner corners, holes allowed to aim this cassette on the changing table of the collector. Work of the early eighteenth century, period where the decorative arts are still very influenced by the style called: Louis-Quatorzian where the perfect symmetry of the patterns remains cardinal value. It should be noted that there is a slight lack of material on the front left spandrel. Dimension: width 42.8cm, depth 29.4cm and height 16.5cm.
