That formal setting, that frozen, slightly unreal atmosphere….. A touch of 17th century Magritte, no?
Paint nicely crackled. Some retouching in the margins (underneath and in the black colour above) but otherwise good condition. Canvas relined with three really minuscule needle pin holes. Oil on canvas.
