Pair of athenienne cups - Empire period

Pair of cups in the shape of atheniennes.
Chased ormolu.
France, Empire period.

This pair of ormolu tripod bowls rest on a base surmounted by clawed feet connected by struts that cross under a finely chiseled floral medallion. Sphinx heads and their wings support the cup which is decorated with a water frieze.
