Important giltwood console table Aix en Provence circa 1760

Important console table in carved lime wood, gilded with the leaf in burnished and amati. Of curved form with strong overhangs on all its faces, the belt is only curves and counter curves treated with clear-cut. This one rests on a staggered base; the posterior ones decreasing from the profile of the front ones. All four follow the same philosophy as the belt all is that movements and curves leading to atypical interior scrolls in the lower part. The whole is united by a harmonious work of fine sculptures in high relief of grape vines loaded with heavy bunches nestled in an opulent foliage treated in high relief and openwork. The median part of the apron is decorated with a poly-lobed cartouche where roses, peonies and daisies are united by a voluble ribbon on a bed of thorny branches. The whole is topped with its original white marble leaf with a dense blue-gray veining that is very decorative and harmonious. It should be noted the great care taken to the linking elements of impeccable quality.
