Winged Ox, England 16th century

Carved oak boss or mount of the winged ox, symbol of St. Luke the Evangelist. Most probably with the other three symbols of the Evangelists it was part of tetramorph oak mounts on a church lectern or pulpit. Excellent condition. Traces of glue on the back.
Dimensions: 17cm wide x 3.8cm deep x 16.5cm high
