Pair Of Reliquary Busts Of St John The Baptist And St Francis, Italy early 18th century

An Italian work from the end of the 17th or the beginning of the 18th century. Our two almost identical busts form a beautiful pair in carved, polychromed and gilded wood. They accommodate in their center, a glazed cartouche which honors a rare ex-ossibus relic of Saint John the Baptist for one and a relic of Saint Francis (Francis in Italian) for the second.
On the back, access to these reliquary niches is protected by three wax seals. Good condition - some missing parts
