"Retrospective exhibition
centenary of his birth"
November 20, 2020 - January 31, 2021
Jean Commère (1920-1986) would have turned 100 on April 5, 2020. A painter of colourist and a virtuoso draughtsman, he went through the second half of the 20th century, affirming the figurative vocation of art. Protagonist of the Young Painting, he was consecrated during his lifetime alongside Bernard Buffet or Jean Jansem.
The Galerie de Crécy pays tribute to him with the exceptional presentation of new and major works. With more than 100 oil paintings, watercolours, drawings or ceramics, this retrospective exhibition provides a representative panorama of the artist's entire output.
Given the special health circumstances, for the safety of all, the opening will not take place. The exhibition will be open to the public under the usual conditions after confinement. It will also be possible to book (by phone or email) a personalized tour of the exhibition: the gallery will be fully privatized. A digital catalogue of photographs of high-resolution works is available on request, in addition to the website.
