Important 18th century gilded wooden font

Superb rococo frame in gilded and openwork wood for this 18th century font.

In the center, on his cross, an ivory Christ surmounted by a plaque annotated with INRI.
At the bottom of La Croix, a memento mori in ivory (a Latin phrase designed to remind humans of their mortality).
In the lower part, the font is made of real seashell included in a gilded wood decor.

18th century Italian work in excellent condition.
Very nice cleaned gilding.
Usual restorations. The background fabric in red Damascus was changed in the 19th century
