Renaissance at its best: an elegant (limewood) sculpture with soft and delicate expression of the youngest of the 12 disciples. Exceptional emotional force. Overall wear, left hand and right forearm missing, hollowed back, some traces of xylophagi. Southern Germany. Polychromy probably 18th century. On a later stand with aluminium support at the back. Length (without stand): 67cm.
