A maiolica Albarello - Venice, second third of the 16th century

The exceptional high quality albarello is decorated “a berettino” with large interlacing of blue painted flowers with white highlights. On its face, a label shape cartouche is inscribed: “Mirab[oli]ni Emblici”. Above the cartouche is a golden vase in an oval, and below an orb bearing the initials A.D. and framed by a bird and a butterfly. Two albarelli from the same series, from the Marcel Puech collection, are preserved in the Musée Calvet in Avignon (inv. 23732).
