Oil on wood panel
measures 50 x 70 cm.
with a tabernacle frame 70 x 100 cm.
This beautiful table, from the beginning of the sixteenth century and from the Lombardy area, is dedicated to the most demanding collectors, always looking for works of the highest pictorial level, featuring features of high epoch, integrity and rarity but above all to convey those emotions that only the masterpieces are able to give.
In our case, this beautiful portrait of infinite sensuality was made by an artist working closely (or most likely in the workshop) of Giovanni Pietro Rizzoli, the 'Giampietrino', Leonardo's favorite student, who thanks to the enormous success of this subject, he proposed it with several variants to satisfy the demands of the commission, both ecclesiastical and private.
It is interesting to note that, while assimilating Leonardo's lesson, the painting retains Gothic lines, with particularly accentuated face features and curled hair covering the whole body, typical of the previous century.
The excellent state of preservation and the extraordinary vibrancy of the pigments allow, thanks to a perfect reading, to fully grasp its beauty.
