Saint James the Less and Aaron, Flemish School, XVIIth century

Fantastic pair of sculptures carved in fruitwood showing a nice patina, representing two important religious figures: Saint James the Less, also called "the Minor", "the Little", "the Lesser", or "the Younger", one of the twelve Apostles, is leaning on a club. Prophet Aaron, figure from the Old Testament, was the older brother of Moses and became the first High Priest of Israel; he wears the twelve stones breastplate and holds an censer with his right hand.

These two statuettes, of extremely fine execution, are both in exceptional condition.
