Offered by Mastromauro Japanese Art
A Japanese silk panel executed in a refined combination of painting and embroidery, depicting a white falcon with outstretched wings perched upon an elaborate ceremonial stand.
It features precious gold-thread details defining the cords, tassels, and textile ornaments of the perch. The falcon’s plumage is rendered with great accuracy, while the textiles are enriched with polychrome floral and geometric patterns. The composition is surrounded by ink-decorated paper with an abstract, veined effect and enclosed within a black lacquer frame.
Closely associated with samurai culture, the falcon traditionally symbolizes strength, authority, and rank. The panel is ready for wall display and retains its original hanging cord, which can be removed if desired.
Period: 19th-century Edo period.
Dimensions: 94 x 75 cm.
Condition: Excellent condition with slight stains.
