Boin Taburet – Pair of solid silver wine coolers Late 19th century

This pair of circular, bulbous solid silver wine coolers features rich relief ornamentation characteristic of high-end Parisian production from the late 19th century, blending a Neo-Louis XVI style with Rocaille influences.

The upper rim is defined by a fine row of beads, while the body is animated by cartouches and decorative panels lavishly chased with foliate and floral motifs, embellished with stylized shells, scrolls, and Rocaille ornaments.

The side handles serve as the primary decorative feature: they are adorned with high-relief female figures—styled as caryatids—set against a backdrop of scrolls and foliage. The design is completed by numerous chased and applied details, lending the decoration great richness and a striking sense of depth.
The lower section is accented by a beaded and foliate frieze and rests on four cabriole legs with scrolls, richly decorated with plant motifs and terminating in volutes, giving the pieces a particularly elegant and monumental silhouette. They are fitted with removable silver-plated liners.

The quality of the casting, the richness of the applied elements, and the finesse of the chasing attest to the superior craftsmanship of the Boin-Taburet firm, renowned for luxury silverware created in the spirit of great French 18th-century designs.
