Antonio Amorgasti was a sculptor of Italian origin who settled in Antwerp at the turn of the 20th century. Trained at the Berchem Academy, he quickly established himself as a talented castor and sculptor, working in the renowned studios of Josuë Dupon and Edward Deckers.

He specialized in creating high-quality ornamental works and medallion portraits, many of which can still be seen today in towns such as Averbode, Veerle, and Geel. His work reflected the artistic spirit of the era, depicting working-class figures—blacksmiths, metalworkers—as well as animals, both wild and domestic, often observed at the Antwerp Zoo. Created primarily in plaster and bronze, his works are distinguished by expressive modeling and a lively energy. He regularly received commissions for public and private decorative projects.
