An important clock by the Parisian master clockmaker Jean Prevost (de la Trémouille); 1727–1799. It is veneered with horn on a gold base. The rich bronze fittings are of exceptional quality for the period. The clock has retained its original patina and features its original fire-gilding. The movement is believed to be in working order, but the pendulum and key are missing. The wall bracket is also of the same high quality.
Despite the numerous surviving examples from this period, this large clock is of exceptional importance and is therefore of particular interest to a specialist collection.
