A rare tea caddy decorated with Martin varnish and gilt on a lapis lazuli blue ground.
The design features Chinese figures perched on scrolling foliage, after the works of the painter Jean Pillement (1728-1808).
The escutcheons and hinges are finely cut and engraved in an oriental style.
In excellent condition.
Parisian work from the Louis XV period, circa 1770.
