These two stools, very similar in design and craftsmanship, were made in Tuscany in the early years of the 18th century. Their walnut structure, with its slender and decorative profile, makes them ideal furnishing elements for both historic settings and contemporary interiors.
The form recalls Renaissance models: the seat, set on a tapered block, rests on shaped legs with volutes, following a curvilinear profile that gives the whole a dynamic and lively silhouette. The moulded edge of the seat further emphasizes the interplay of lines. The backrests, narrow and rising upward, display a similarly curvilinear profile characterized by opposing volutes; one of the two features, at its center, a stylized shield motif that adds a refined decorative note.
Thanks to their balanced proportions, the rhythmic movement of the backrests, and the quality of the carving, this pair of stools is perfectly suited as occasional seating in an entrance hall or beside a console, but also as a decorative presence flanking a fireplace or along a wall. Their sober yet strongly expressive character harmonizes naturally with antique furnishings and, by contrast, with more minimal and modern spaces.
