Rupert Carabin (1862-1932), Woman with a Colocynth

This glazed stoneware sculpture reflects the poetic universe of François-Rupert Carabin, where the female figure merges with organic forms. A nude woman, with soft, flowing lines, is depicted in an intimate pose, holding a gourd whose rounded volume harmoniously extends her body.

The sensual yet serene modeling, combined with a glaze of green and brown tones accented with reddish touches, gives the piece a vivid and contemplative presence. The stamp beneath the base attests to its authenticity.

A delicate work, emblematic of the naturalistic and decorative aesthetic of Art Nouveau.
