Charming earthenware part table service composed of 10 small plates, 2 square dishes, 3 round dishes, 2 rectangular dishes, with polychrome decoration enhanced with gold representing on the basin a bouquet of flowers in a vase and an incense box. Flowers and ribbons bloom on the wing.
Commentary :
William Ridgway Son & Co was an earthenware manufacturer located in Stoke-upon-Trent, England. Working first with his father and brother, William Ridgway later partnered with his son Edward John Ridgway. Leonard Abington joined the firm which became William Ridgway Son & Co. In April 1847, William Ridgway withdrew from the business, Edward John Ridgway and Leonard J Abington continuing as Ridgway & Abington.
