Set of ten neoclassical chairs, Tuscany late 18th century

Set of ten neoclassical chairs in carved, lacquered, and gilt wood, Tuscany, late 18th century.

Elegant set of ten neoclassical chairs made in Tuscany at the end of the 18th century. The structure, carved in wood and lacquered in white with refined gilt details, reflects the precision and sophistication of the neoclassical taste. The rectangular backs, framed by slender vertical colonnettes and entirely outlined in gold, enhance the visual lightness of the design and trace a luminous line around the pale lacquer.
The truncated-pyramidal legs, fluted and gilt on three sides, create a harmonious vertical rhythm that lightens the composition without compromising its structural solidity. At the junctions between the legs and the seat rail, small gilt rosettes introduce a discreet yet refined decorative note. The front rail is enriched with a delicate gilt relief frieze of stylized vegetal motifs that gracefully underlines the design’s continuity and visually connects the front legs.
The seats, upholstered and covered in a blue fabric with light-colored decorations, are in good condition. At the back, a subtle recess accommodates the upright of the backrest, adding balance and elegance to the overall form.
Homogeneous in model, period, and decoration, these chairs form a rare group entirely preserved, remarkable for its versatility and harmony. Perfect around a large dining table to create a coherent and scenographic ensemble, they can also be distributed throughout the home, beside an entrance console, by a fireplace, in a bedroom as side chairs, or along a corridor, where the repetition of the model enhances perspective and introduces a touch of sober, luminous classicism.
Please note that, being antique and handcrafted pieces, there are some small variations in measurements, also due to the natural movement of the wood over the centuries.
